My days have been so full lately! I come home, and I just drop on my (very cute) couch.
Oh!! I forgot to mention! In a moment of needing some retail therapy, the hubby and I bought a new loveseat and chair, and we also go a new (bigger) bed!!
We bought them while we were in Georgia for my grandma’s funeral. Why is it that the right things seem to come along at such weird times?? I mean, the right things always come along when you’re not looking for it. I can often find just the sweater I’ve had my eye on will go on sale when I’ve totally given up hope that it ever will (go on sale). Same thing goes for the bed linens in that picture. We had wanted to register for them at our wedding, but 4 months before our wedding, they discontinued the pattern. I had given up on it entirely. A week later, we found the whole set for an incredible closeout price! The same went for the living room set and new bed. Handsome and I had talked about SOMEDAY getting a new bed and maybe MUCH LATER in the future purchasing a leather sofa, but of all times, we were in Georgia for the funeral and happened upon it: a bed Hubby couldn’t live without, and a loveseat and chair (while still kinda pricey) that I loved. The store (Macy’s Clearance Center- if you live near one- totally recommend) gave us incredible deals on all of the furniture- they continued to take lots of money off of the price tag, just because we bought all 3 pieces.
So, they made us an offer we couldn’t refuse.
That said, the real adventure in this whole impulsive-furniture-purchasing-scenario was getting it back home. We rented a pull-behind u-haul trailer (a 6′ x 12′), and the two of us, neither having any incredible amount of experience in pulling large objects behind a car, hauled our pretty pieces all the way up the eastern seaboard. It was a little bit stressful, but completely worth it. (The only time I’d ever pulled a trailer before was when I followed behind my Daddy in a Suburban with an (at least) 15″ trailer…at DFW airport. At 5 o’clock, in rush hour. And I was used to driving my Miata at the time. Imagine…tons of airport/rush hour traffic swirling around you as you desperately try to not only keep up with your Speedy Gonzalez father, who seems blissfully unaware of the fact that you have no idea where you are going, and attempt to flawlessly sail essentially a barge, connected to another barge, through the Panama Canal!!! Woof!!)
Yes, I’d do it again. Because I love furniture. Isn’t that a weird thing to love?? But I do.
We got home at 3 AM on (technically) Thursday morning, and unloaded the trailer into the garage. Mere hours later, our days started, and Hubby took the trailer back to the U-haul up here. And promptly backed into another U-Haul trailer! Good thing we got the insurance (LOL)!!! 🙂
Re: Buddy thinks that couch was for him. Our dogs do the same thing. Freckles burrows down into the pillows on the back of the couch and sleeps. They think we are so considerate! Looks great! Love, Vicki
