The Sweet Bread Hookup

Do you ever just get a hankerin’ for some banana bread?  Or cinnamon raisin toast?  If you do, then this post is for you!  I’m about to hook you up with the BEST whole wheat sweet bread recipes I’ve found on the internet!  And they all come from one source: 100 Days of Real Food.  I love this website, anyway, because the writer’s central thesis is similar to my own: no processed foods!  She manages to live this way happily with a husband and 2 kids!!  Check out the website, while perusing these recipes:

I started with the fabulous Whole Wheat Banana Bread, which is made with (of course) whole wheat and no sugar!  It’s absolutely every bit as delicious as my old recipe with all the sugar and white flour- I was so surprised!!  It’s so delicious- I was hooked on her website already, having only tried the one recipe.  Mr. Handsome & I quickly ate through half of the pan!!  It’s texture is incredible- so light and airy and cake-like, yet whole wheat.

Then, I stumbled upon her Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin Bread recipe (for bread machines!!), which, again, turned out fabulous!  My only recommendation would be to at least double the cinnamon.  Yep- double it- if you like your Cinnamon Raisin Bread seriously Cinnamon-y.  Which we do, because Mr. Handsome LOVES cinnamon. Again, the texture/crumb of the bread was fabulous- not dense, but not squishy, either.  I had planned to make Cinnamon Raisin French toast with this one, but the bread didn’t last that long around here.  It was gone by 2 days.

And just yesterday, I made her delicious Whole Wheat Zucchini Bread, what with all the fresh zucchini that abounds this time of year!!  The flavors were just right, with a hint of baking spices, and the texture was denser than a cake, but not as dense as the cinnamon bread.  The Zucchini kept it so moist!  A little cream cheese, and we had ourselves a fantastic Sunday breakfast!  Again, it was surprisingly fabulous for a whole wheat sweet bread!

She has outdone herself at 100 Days of Real Food with these bread recipes!  All 3 recipes are whole wheat and sugar free, which is (of course) how I do.  I have yet to try any of her other recipes, but I cannot wait!!
