Looking back, looking forward

This weekend was so fabulous!  It was so nice to see my family, even if just for a couple of days.  My older brother graduated!  And, I learned that my little brother is graduating later this year, too, which is awesome news!  I can’t believe it’s already been 1 year since Chris & I graduated- it flew!  It wasn’t all easy…to think, this time last year, I was graduating and traveling to Mexico, Napa Valley, and Savannah before starting my residency 1 month later!  It was a busy but amazing time…what I wouldn’t give to be that carefree again!

In addition to graduating, we helped my older brother move out of his apartment; he is moving out to Colorado.  My entire family now lives in Colorado.  As they embarked toward Colorado on Sunday, Chris & I couldn’t help but wish we were moving with them.  We still have 3 more years to put in before we’re free to go- it seems like an eternity!  It feels like…prison.  If this year was any indication, though, it will go faster than I think it will.  Thank goodness.

I also realized how much I love having guests!!  We never have guests over (not that I blame anyone…it’s only nice here for a few months), but we love having parties and people around.  I think that made it tough this past winter, as well.  It’s so much easier to get through the hard times when family and friends are close.  And most of ours are not just a small distance away; most of our close friends and family are very far away!  Of course, we’ve made some new friends since we’ve been here, but it would be nice to see the family more than twice a year.

On the upside, we’re coming into the summertime here, and summers in this area are absolutely wonderful!  We came up with a list (albeit a small list) of things we would miss when we leave, and the Isle tops the list.  Summers and falls are fabulous.  Also the whole foods co-op, I would miss.  And maybe 3 or 4 restaurants.  But for now, that’s it.  I’ll check back in a few years when I’m leaving; perhaps there will be some new additions to that list (let’s hope)…?
