36 Weeks- Happy Mother’s Day!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!  I guess I’ll be joining those ranks, soon!  Mr. Handsome surprised me by celebrating for me, even though I haven’t had this baby yet!  He brought me breakfast in bed yesterday and took me to Cleveland for dinner at the Melting Pot last night, which was really nice, since we won’t have too many days left that it’s just us for a date night.  I felt so special, and so loved- he was thinking of me 🙂

Whoa…36 weeks.  It sounds SUPER pregnant…which, I guess, I am!  This past week was such a blur- I’m so busy taking call every third night, it really leaves me little time to do anything but run, sleep, and eat (if there’s time).  I had them skew my on-call nights towards the beginning of the month, since it’s starting to get pretty late in my pregnancy.  I can tell when I’ve had enough, though- I get some contractions when it’s been a stressful day/late night of call.  And, wow, can I just say- those HURT.  I guess it’s a taste of what will be coming sometime between now and 4-5 weeks from now.

Baby boy has kicked lots and lots this week, he’s just super busy!  I like to think he’s making room in there (I’ll bet he’s feeling pretty squished lately), sometimes he will just stick a foot in my ribs and push like there’s no tomorrow!  So silly!

I can also tell that my patients love a pregnant lady- they always ask tons of questions, and no matter how grumpy they are when they came to the hospital, they usually crack a grin when they see my big-as-a-house self cruise through the door (and I guess I would too, come to think of it)!

As for the nursery, it’s almost done 🙂  We have a crib!  We finally just bought one at Target, it’s well built and was more economical than our last crib, leaving us with some wiggle room when it came to other nursery items (diaper/trash can, clothes, diapers, etc…).  And we have really enjoyed shopping for clothes lately!  We’re loving all the cute outfits!  We’re having some difficulty finding baby socks, though, which is a shame, since that’s primarily what baby will wear on his feet for a bit.  We’re just putting some finishing touches on the nursery itself, and when it’s done I will post pictures!  I’m really liking how it’s turned out!

I’m in full-swing nesting mode.  Today I reorganized the entire kitchen and pantry, to make room for all baby’s necessities.  It was a huge project, and I’m exhausted.  But, every little bit helps, and with each small step, we get closer and closer to having the place baby-friendly!

This week, I start with my weekly doctor appointments.  They’re getting harder to make it to, since work is ultra-demanding right now.  I’m hoping work calms down a tad, so that I don’t have to be quite this stressed so late in the game.  Tomorrow is my 36 week appointment, and, for some reason, I’m nervous!  They are gonna check the cervix tomorrow and see where we are in the labor process (better be fairly far away still!).  Then, we have a baby basics class to teach us how to take care of our newborn in the middle of the week.  I personally would like to have a pedicure done so that my toes look better for when I’m in labor, and also because I can no longer reach my toes anymore!

Here are this week’s stats:

Baby is as big as: Honeydew Melon

Days left until due date: 26!!  Under 30 days!!  I cannot believe it!!!

Cravings/Aversions:  Ice cream, I always want something cool and creamy to cool off

I most enjoyed: my first mother’s day celebration with Hubby!

I am nervous about:  getting nervous about labor/delivery- I just don’t really know what to expect from the perspective of the patient!

The puppies: Sassy likes to curl up on my belly (which isn’t always comfortable), and Buddy likes to snuggle in general these days!

I’m so thankful for everyone who has been so supportive, there has just been such an outpouring of support and love these last few weeks, and I’m amazed and in awe of it!  Thank you, everyone!

xoxo
